CI works in cooperation with the parent Sector in Paris, other UNESCO offices, especially in the Asia and Pacific region, and within the UNESCO Bangkok office in implementing intersectoral projects. In order to reach its aims CI collaborates with international organizations such as UNDP, ITU, and also with regional and national organizations such as AIBD, AIT and SEAPA.

CI cooperates with SEAPA in promoting freedom of expression, in particularly the right to press freedom.
