5th SESSION (Manila, Nov 2010)

UNESCO Bangkok, UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (NatCom), and the UNESCO Information for All Programme (IFAP) convened the 5th Asia Pacific Information Network (APIN) Meeting and ICT Literacy Workshop in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) in Manila on 23-‐26 November 2010.
The theme of the 5th APIN Meeting was Information Policy: Information Access, Media and Information Literacy. It focused on improving access to information and promoting media and information literacy, which are two priorities of UNESCO IFAP. The fifth session in Manila provided a venue for APIN member representatives to:
- Discuss and agree on priorities for the new APIN Constitution based on the IFAP Strategy
- Develop an action plan for establishing or strengthening IFAP Committees in the APIN countries
- Discuss indicators for a National Information Policy (NIP)
- Consider APIN members’ collaboration and cooperation in the development of information tools and in learning from each others’ experience
- Identify interventions to promote Media and Information Literacy
- Deliberate on measures to help improve Access to Information
- Consider awareness-‐raising tools for APIN.
