United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hereby invite qualified companies to submit sealed tenders as follows:

UNESCO is currently seeking bids from organization to provide web design, web editing and content management as part of the launch and development of the Power of Peace Network (PPN) website. Critical to the success of the Power of Peace concept will be the management of the online platform. The website is to be designed in order to support the continuing debate on how to effectively promote mutual understanding by harnessing the world of media and ICTs, including TV, newspapers and magazines.

The Power of Peace Network is to be a standalone multi-media and ICT platform with a sustainable not-for-profit business structure to produce and distribute locally generated content through a network of collaborating television and radio services, satellite distributors, cell-phone companies and internet providers.

PPN will work with writers, directors, producers, bloggers, and other people with various talents in the different regions of the world, including those often marginalized in the mainstream media. With NGO and agency partners, PPN will provide training, particularly to young people, to hone their craft in working with PPN. PPN will work in collaboration with a wide range of partners rather than competing or duplicating what is already “out there”. PPN aim to involve youth in its development, compete operations and research. Thus, Young people are PPN’s target group and focus.

The launch of the website is tied to the 2nd Global Forum on the Power of Peace, scheduled for 28-30 October 2009.

This is a 12 month position for a web editing organization to manage and acquire content for the Power of Peace website in association with activities pursuant to the development of the Power of Peace website and the Centres for Conflict-Sensitive reporting. It also requires the Organization to seek out alliances and partnerships that further meet the aims and goals of Power of Peace initiative.
