Infomative Minority Language Posters

In order to reinforce the message provided in the radio spots and strengthen their impact, UNESCO produced some posters summarizing key information on birth registration.

Ms. Supawadee Phawkhunthod, a computer graphic designer, designed 3 posters to promote awareness about birth registration and provide practical information on the process to attain it. The posters are based on cartoons to avoid issues of translations and reach a wider range of people. Draft posters were reviewed by a legal team working on legal status at FACE to ensure the legal accuracy of the content. The posters were then tested with Lahu villagers living in a Lahu remote village in Chiang Rai as well as with urban Akha people living in downtown Chiang Mai. Comments were mostly positive. Finally, 1000 copies of each of the 3 posters were printed and distributed through the Registration Administration Bureau. Other partner organizations such as Radio Thailand Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, the Lahu Group, and local community radios also helped with the distribution
