36 Entries received for the Heritage Awards 2006

The 2006 Heritage Awards programme, in its seventh year, recognizes the achievement of individuals and organizations within the private sector, and public-private initiatives, in successfully restoring structures of heritage value in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 2006 Jury Prize for Innovation, in its second year, will recognize newly-built structures which demonstrate outstanding standards for contemporary architectural design which are well integrated into historic contexts.

This year’s Awards programme has drawn 36 entries from 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Among the broad range of entries can be found 3 urban areas, 3 churches, 2 temples, 2 palaces as well as projects including tombs, caves, mosques and private mansions. 6 entries from 4 countries have also been received for the Award Jury Prize for Innovation. Winners will be announced in September 2006. One entry will receive the “Award of Excellence”, a number of entries will receive an “Award of Distinction”, a number of entries will receive an “Award of Merit” and a number of entries will receive an “Honourable Mention”.  A number of special Jury Prizes for Innovation will also be awarded at the jury’s discretion.
