Laos as a booming ecotourism destination

According to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Lao PDR attracted 1.09 million visitors in year 2005 and is predicted to have a strong 27% growth rate in international tourist arrivals between 2006 and 2008.

With 3 World Heritage Sites and numerous national parks, the country offers both natural and cultural wonders with plenty of activities available such as rafting, elephant trekking, visits to Hilltribe villages, bird watching, and other adventures. Travel to and within the country is now easier due to the government and international organizations’ support in improving infrastructures, tourist facilities, and visa policies in recent years.
