Partnership

As a key partner, UNESCO continues to support the action pillars of the Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC): advocacy for policy change, knowledge generation, capacity building, information management and dissemination, and partnership building.

Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood:

The Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC) is a network established to build strong partnerships across sectors and different disciplines, organisations, agencies and institutions in the Asia-Pacific region to advance the agenda on and investment in early childhood.

ARNEC strives to create a stronger and more dynamic Early Childhood Development (ECD) community in the Asia-Pacific by equipping ARNEC members with updated knowledge to help them become effective advocates for holistic and inclusive ECD, and by creating environments where members feel motivated and connected to participate and contribute in activities.

In 2013, ARNEC organized the Asia-Pacific Regional ECD Conference in which a statement of the post-2015 Goal for early childhood development (ECD) and associated targets and indicators were prepared. UNESCO was much involved in the process and took part in the plenary Panel Discussion to stimulate a broader debate and served as a rapporteur. This important statement will be proposed to the UN General Assembly Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals in order to advocate for the positioning of ECD on the global Post 2015 Development Agenda.
