Central Asian countries ink protocol on use of water, energy resources of Central Asia in 2008, 2009
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have signed the protocol on use of water and energy resources in the fourth quarter of 2008 and in 2009 in the result of the meeting held on October 17-18 in Almaty, reported press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Industry, Energy and Fuel Resources.
This meeting was held as agreed by the Presidents of Central Asian countries on October 10 in Bishkek. Saparbek Balkibekov, Minister of Industry, Energy and Fuel Resources, led the delegation of Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting focused on use of water and energy resources of Central Asian region.
It was agreed during this meeting that use of water and energy resources of Central Asian region and their regulation should be built upon mutually beneficial basis. In this regard, the countries have agreed on reciprocal supplies of natural gas, fuel oil, coal and electricity for autumn-winter 2008/2009.
