Global Action Week 2013: Every Child Needs a Teacher!
18.04.13The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) reports that Education for All (EFA) will not be achieved until teacher recruitment is prioritized in policy agendas. The severe teacher gap has wide-ranging repercussions that undermine efforts to achieve universal primary education (EFA Goal 2) and deliver quality education for all (EFA Goal 6). Considering the demand for new teaching posts and assuming that the pool of teachers is shrinking at a rate of 5%, the world will need to recruit 6.8 million teachers between 2010 and 2015.
