Launch of the 2010 EFA Global Monitoring Report
The 2010 EFA Global Monitoring Report on reaching the marginalized will launch at UN headquarters in New York on 19 January, and will be followed by a policy event to be held in Washington DC on 20 January. Pre-launch information

45th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council (SEAMEC) Conference and the 5th ASEAN Ministers of Education (ASED) Meeting
Ministers of Education from the 11 SEAMEO Member Countries will convene the 45th SEAMEC Conference to discuss effective strategies in providing access to quality education pertaining to the EFA goals and participate in a policy forum which spells out the roles of teachers and their professional development. The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) has led efforts in pushing forward the education agenda, particularly EFA, by organizing global activities around the world for. In light of the economic crisis, this year’s Global Action Week focuses on education financing and will collaborate with the FIFA World Cup, to take place this year. The two events have come together, under the 1GOAL: Education for all campaign, to raise awareness and urgency for the achievement of Education for All by 2015.

Launch of the 2010 Education for All Global Monitoring Report
The theme of the 2010 EFA Global Monitoring Report is “Reaching the Marginalized” with a focus on the impact of the global economic crisis on the world’s poorest countries. It also highlights aid to education and introduces a new statistical tool, the Deprivation and Marginalization in Education data set. 1st International Conference on "Language, Education and the Millennium Development Goals"
The three-day forum will address the state of development of ethnolinguistic minorities, the relevance of local languages, and how to develop programs and policies that better reach these underserved groups. 11th Regional Meeting of National EFA Coordinators
The meeting will serve as a forum to identify the major challenges the region is facing towards achieving the EFA goals and allow countries and EFA partners to prepare the planning and assessment of EFA progress and gaps by 2015 through the sharing of findings from the evaluation of the EFA Mid-Decade Assessment and the EFA Mid-Term Review process. Through this meeting, UNESCO Bangkok/UIS and UNICEF will update countries on the preparation of End-of-Decade notes on EFA progress and get country inputs to the notes. More info
