04.02.2010February 16-18, 2010 at UNESCO Office Bangkok
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) unit is convening a workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change in the ESD context with the overall goal to identify and recognize the key components of linkages between Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change, so as to provide avenues for officials from various Ministries of Education to examine their existing curriculum and policies for potential gaps in the areas of climate change and disaster risk reduction. The meeting also aims to share expertise and exchange views on methodologies with which to approach climate change and disaster risk reduction for adaptation in practice within the larger ESD framework.
Ministries of Education from the following countries will be participating in the workshop; Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Experts working on education for sustainable development, climate change and disaster risk reduction have been invited, along with ESD partners in the region including UNEP, UN/ISDR, Plan International, UNICEF, Save the Children and UNU-IAS.
