8th National EFA Coordinators' Meeting: Mid-Decade Assessment Progress Review

National EFA Coordinators and delegations from 19 countries, and representatives from civil society organizations and UN agencies involved in education met to review progress related to the EFA Mid-Decade Assessment (MDA) focused on "reaching the unreached."
EFA coordinators have met regularly since the 2000 World Education Forum in Dakar and this year’s meeting focused on the national, sub-regional and regional activities for the Asia and Pacific EFA MDA. Countries that participated in the meeting were Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Korea (DPR), Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
The meeting was supported by the UNESCO/Japan Funds-in-Trust cooperation.

The meeting was organized on behalf of the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education by the Assessment, Information Systems, Monitoring and Statistics (AIMS) Unit, which is the regional office of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, and the Asia-Pacific Programme for Education for All (APPEAL) Unit at UNESCO Bangkok. Members of the inter-agency Thematic Working Group on EFA, led by UNESCO, UNICEF, ILO and UNESCAP, will also attend the meeting.
