ERI-Net Seminar 2012 focus will be two-fold: (1) review of the findings of the previous research studies, and (2) discussion on the next research topics upon agreement on the extension of the scope of ERI-Net analytical work.

Seminar Details

Title Public-Private Partnerships in Higher Education & TVET and Youth Employment

Dates - 30-31 July 2012

Location - The Novotel Bangkok Fenix Ploenchit Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand

Participants - Members of ERI-Net from 10 countries namely Australia, China and Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand together with experts from regional and international education organizations.

The findings of two regional studies conducted since 2011 to be discussed are on:
(1) public private partnership in higher education and TVET, and 
(2) the question of youth employment – innovative approaches to human resource development. 

The findings from these studies will provide a useful knowledge base to assist governments in formulating appropriate and sound educational policies leading to positive practices in higher education and TVET. 

ERI-Net and the Future of Education 

Furthermore, by extending the scope of the ERI-Net research work, the network is expected to actively contribute to education development from a sector-wide perspective, including in shaping a new vision of education in the Asia-Pacific region. 

At the seminar, ERI-Net members will also discuss on the following guiding questions:

  • What future educational responses are required to address emerging economic, demographic, socio-cultural and policy trends in the region? 
  • What are the research gaps and key areas for forward-looking work and research? 
  • What future research and analytical work needs to be done?
  • What would be priority areas for research to support international reflections on “rethinking education”?
  • Out of these, in which specific areas should ERI-Net member institutions engage in?
