Education Financial Planning in Asia: Implementing Medium-Term Expenditure Frameworks

A new series of e-publications

The Education Financial Planning in Asia series comprises four country case studies – Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Viet Nam.

The studies deal with a medium-term expenditure framework (MTEF) in the education sector which aims to strengthen the link between policy, planning and budgeting.  Many countries in Asia have introduced, or are planning to introduce MTEFs, but no study had been conducted to document the experiences.  The case studies conducted in the four contries aim to address this knowledge gap.

These publications provide real examples and practical information from which planners and policy makers in other countries can learn from the experiences on education financial planning and MTEF.

Later this year, the case study of Nepal will be published.  Additional studies on Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore and Tajikistan are under review.
