This is an overview of three projects monitored within the UNESCO Bangkok ICT in Education Office: IEARN Pakistan, Education Information Technology Coordinators and E-teacher project. - Harnessing IT for Sustainable Development
The Government of Pakistan, recognising how one of the prerequisites for ensuring sustained growth of the economy is the provision of a clear framework consisting of policy, legislative, financial and operational guidelines, has developed a National IT Policy and Action Plan. - ICT in Education Policy Project: A Description
The UNESCO "ICT in Education Policy" project aims to promote appropriate policy models and strategies for the integration of ICT into education in the Asia-Pacific region, with special emphasis on developing policies which utilize ICT to remove barriers to participation in education and enhance the quality of education.
- ICTs for the Promotion of Literacy
The project aims to focus on two main activities: 1) Studies on best practices in ICT-assisted literacy in the E-9 countries, and 2) The development of ICT-based literacy materials and identification and mobilization of partners for implementation in the three E-9 countries in South Asia: Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. - National Information and Communications Technology Strategy for Education
With plans for ICT to complement the existing systems and delivery modes, the strategy includes six key elements namely: 1) use of ICTs to extend the reach of educational opportunity; 2) application of ICTs to strengthen the quality of teaching and educational management; 3) employment of ICTs to enhance student learning; 4) development of complementary approaches for the use of ICTs in education; 5) building on current experiences of existing and successful programmes; and 6) development of capacity at the federal and provincial department level. - Article: ICT in Teacher Education Pakistan
ICT competence varies from person to person and the schools they come from. Therefore to cater to their individual needs is at the same time a challenge and an implication for teacher education. The Computer Curriculum Studies unit designed at NDIE helps them to experience with ICT, which is revised each year to ensure it is up-to-date with new technological advancement. - ICT training of teachers in 169 labs of the government schools in N.W.F.P
Intel Education, Directorate for Information Technology N.W.F.P, Finance Department N.W.F.P and Schools & Literacy Department will collaborate for ICT training of teachers in 169 labs available in the Government schools all across 24 districts of N.W.F.P.
