The ICT in Education programme in UNESCO Bangkok has been convening a Key Players' Meeting for the past three years. This event provides an opportunity for UNESCO, partners and major ICT stakeholders in the region to share their innovative programmes with each other and to explore potential areas for collaboration.

This year, the Key Players' Meeting was held on 25 June 2008 in conjunction with the Celebrating Innovative ICT in Education Practices: From Idea to Impact to optimize the presence of many key players attending UNESCO's special event. Selected speakers were invited to present their ongoing innovative ICT in education programmes/projects, as well as the direction and scope of ICT in education activities they foresee in the near future to the 25 participants on this occasion.

UNESCO also led three small group discussions focussed on the following themes: ICT for Accessible, Effective and Efficient Higher Education; ICT for Improving Literacy Rates; and ICT for Curriculum Development. Participants were able to explore potential collaboration in these specific areas.

Participants at the Key Players' Meeting indicated that the meeting was very productive and useful. They urged UNESCO to continue this forum to facilitate the high quality dialogue, as was evident in the engaging discussion and interaction. The exchange of information is critical in helping all key players to plan, develop and implement their programmes more strategically.
