Key Outcomes
- ICT in education policy and strategy development, awareness raising and capacity building
Some 50 people benefited from the High Level Policy-Makers Workshop, which was held from 18 February - 31 May 2003. Twenty-five Ministry of Education participants, including several Ministers and Vice Ministers of Education from 10 Member States attended this event. It was organized in four phases, comprised of two face-to-face meetings in Bangkok and two online phases. A clear output of this meeting was a recommendation that tools be developed to help policy-makers integrate ICTs effectively in their education systems. It was agreed that a toolkit, translating the expertise of key specialists and organizations into guiding principles, but also providing evidence, examples and guidance for the policy development process, would be a valuable resource.
Evaluation
An external evaluation of the impact of the workshop in the countries was produced, which showed impressive results.
Needs assessment
A needs assessment was conducted through a series of questionnaires and 14 interviews with policy-makers of Ministries of Education.
