Key Outcomes
- Policy makers introduced to the toolkit and trained in its use.
The first training workshop was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in September 2005. The participants of the workshop were policy makers from three Asia-Pacific countries: Pakistan, Philippines and Thailand. The policy makers were trained in the use of the UNESCO ICT in Education Toolkit and gave feedback and suggestions for further developing the Toolkit.
The next workshop was held in Bangkok, Thailand, in June, 2006. The participants of the Bangkok workshop were Thai Education Planners from the Ministry of Education of the Royal Thai Government.
The third in the series of workshops held to introduce decision makers to the Toolkit was convened in Lautoka, Fiji, from 26 to 30 September 2006. At this workshop, the latest version of the Toolkit was introduced to policy makers from the Pacific Islands region.
Following the Pacific regional workshop, a series of national-level workshops began. National workshops have been held in the Philippines (21-24 November 2006), Indonesia (2-6 April 2007), Brunei Darussalam (4 - 7 June 2007) and Malaysia (25 - 29 June 2007).
The present version of the toolkit is still at the developmental stage and is not ready for potential users. It is, therefore, not accesible to the public. When the "application" version is finalized it will be made available under certain conditions. Potential users will then need to apply for permission to use the toolkit. When permission is granted, the potential user will be issued a username and password to access the site. Potential users will be notified on how to apply for permission.
