4-9 June 2006: Quezon City, Philippines

Building skills in the use of ICT in education in the Philippines
From 4 to 9 June 2006, the UNESCO "ICT in Education" Unit and the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) Unit convened the fifth in a series of National Training Workshops for Teacher Educators. This fifth workshop was held in the Philippines, at the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED). 30 teacher educators, from training institutions across the Philippines, attended the workshop.

The workshop was convened as part of the APEID and ICT in Education Teacher Training project, which is supported by the Japanese Funds-in-Trust (JFIT).

The Philippines workshop covered the same subject matter as the previous four workshops, including subjects such as ICT resources and tools for enhancing teaching and learning; multi-modal methods for facilitating learning;  and competency-based standards.

The trainees were able to share their experience and knowledge with other participants during the workshop and after the workshop can continue to share their ideas and knowledge through an electronic mailing list maintained by Filipino teacher educators.
