ICT-related scope: The Consortium for School Networking is a national NGO based in Washington D.C. The mission of CoSN is to advance the K-12 education community’s capacity to effectively use technology to improve learning through advocacy, policy and leadership development. Members represent school districts, state and local education agencies, nonprofits, and corporations.
Leadership Development: CoSN engages in programmes and activities that improve the capabilities of school leaders at the national, state and local levels to ensure that information technology has a direct and positive impact on student learning.

Contact person:Schulen ans Netz is a voluntary, non-profit organisation whose goal is to firmly anchor new media and the Internet in everyday teaching. For teachers and school children alike, mouse and monitor are to become as familiar in the classroom as blackboard and chalk. Against the backdrop of lifelong learning, the organisation aims to foster lasting change in school education. Schulen ans Netz e.V. was founded in 1996 by the Ministry for Education and Deutsche Telekom AG. The initial goal was to connect 10.000 schools throughout Germany to the Internet within three years. With practically all 34.000 schools now connected to the Internet, Schulen ans Netz has completed its mission in terms of technology. This is of course a milestone in its own right. But along-side the technical aspects of its work, the organisation’s ongoing activities are increasingly focused on content: shaping teaching practice with the help of new media is now taking over as the main focus of our work.

That vision and purpose is the glue that holds iEARN together. JAPAN - World School Network (WSN)

"World School Network (WSN)", has been connecting schools, classrooms, community groups and families with environmental educational programmes that utilize the Internet, video conferencing, mail and direct communications since 1994. Originally World School was founded in the USA for an adventure education project to cross the Arctic Ocean in order to send daily reports from expedition members to children in the world. Not only expedition reports but also activity reports from different participants started to be exchanged. Food, wildlife, trash, interest of children spread out and many types of joint learning projects have been created very actively. Among them, joint research on food and trash are very popular and energetic. Another expedition was held in small subsistent islands in Micronesia from 1996 to 1998, and a walking trip over 4,000 km in Japan looking for wisdom for harmonious life with nature followed from 1999 to 2001.The Tokyo office became the head office for WSN activities in 1999. Currently there are more than 30 groups participated in Japan and 35 groups from Israel, Palestine, India, Hong Kong, France, US, and other areas in the world. The total number of children involved in WSN is estimated at around 1,500.
