VI. CHOOSING INTERNET RESOURCES: EVALUATING THEIR QUALITY

With an ever-increasing number of websites out there, and in the absence of any rigorous screening system, it falls to every individual to take responsibility for assessing the validity and authority of the materials they are accessing.

This section aims to provide guidance and support, in the form of articles and websites that define accepted evaluation criteria, for example, appropriateness of content to audience, authenticity and authority of the source, affiliation of the author, and so forth.
Many are in the form of bibliographies, listing extensive resources, while others act as checklists, detailing important stages in the assessment process.
There are also included sites that focus on copyright issues, explicitly in the context of putting student and reference materials online.
