Thai RuralNet
Transforming rural capability in Thailand through ICT empowerment, this project empowers rural communities with ICTs, finding practical models and practices that will turn the rural digital divide into sound business opportunities for the local communities. The project also creates an opportunity for young people to get involved in development issues. To date, Thai RuralNet has successfully developed and tested a graphics-based web portal specifically designed to meet the needs rural citizens. This enables rural citizens to find relevant rural oriented content. The initiative was developed by a group of Thammasat University students, funded by the World Bank and is supported by organisations from both the public and private sectors.
