DigitalDivideData
DigitalDivideData provides sustainable opportunities for the disadvantaged in Cambodia by educating people, providing jobs and bringing capital into the country. Under-privileged and rural Cambodians, such as land mine and polio victims, can become empowered by following a carefully staged technology-related job creation programme, beginning with computer training and data entry jobs. The idea is to establish a sustainable business that can reinvest its profit in order to benefit more people, while providing the income, education and confidence building required, allowing employees to realise better futures. In June 2001, an office was opened in Phnom Penh, run by local Cambodian managers. While DigitalDivideData has been self-funded since winter 2002, additional funding is required for expansion, capacity building and marketing to ensure long term sustainability.
