Sao Mai Computer Centre for the Blind
The Sao Mai Computer Centre was established in Ho Chi Minh City to promote the use of information technology in educational and vocational training for disabled students and provide avenues for blind Vietnamese to explore social and cultural activities through the Internet. The Centre features a LAN with seven computers equipped with screen readers and Braille displays. In addition, a Braille printer, sound recording equipment, and tactile image production equipment are available. Four former students of the centre have been trained as teaching assistants, and now provide instruction to new students on the technology.
