Curriculum development

Curriculum development should create relative links to the student’s life situation and encourage meaningful participation.

Curriculum for inclusive education allows children to learn concepts with different methods and materials based on the student’s individual characteristics and learning style.  It is important that the curriculum is non-discriminatory and gender sensitive.

There are several important aspects of good curriculum development:

  • Flexible curriculum aids the development of an inclusive and child-friendly learning environment through adapting to the local context and needs of the individual students
  • Bilingual Education in a community where more than one language is spoken is an important solution to the problem of exclusion due to language barriers.
  • Broad common goals within the curriculum for basic knowledge and skills that should be acquired.
  • Assessment of individual progress in the education curriculum relative to benchmark for basic skills and knowledge level.
