Step by step: How to monitor EFA in Asia-Pacific

06.03.2012

Education for All (EFA) cannot be achieved unless there is All for Education. As we approach the 2015 target, more systematic collection, analysis, dissemination and use of EFA data and indicators at the Ministry of Education, provincial and district education offices and schools will be instrumental in informing stakeholders at all levels of progress and issues, as well as mobilizing their active participation and support.

In view of this, UNESCO Bangkok, in consultation with experts across the Asia-Pacific region have published the Systematic Monitoring of Education for All - Training Modules for Asia-Pacific (Training Modules A).

The training modules were designed to build upon lessons learnt about Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) and EFA monitoring. More specifically it promotes the importance of training in these areas to decentralized levels including provinces, districts and schools - especially for effectively reaching the unreached in EFA.

The training modules are suitable for group training or individual self-learning. An online semi-interactive version of Training Module A is underway and will be available at the end of March 2012. Training Module B on the use of household survey data will be online towards the end of April 2012. Countries are encouraged to translate and adapt them for national and local use.

Training Modules A is the first part of a training series, with Training Module B to be published soon.
