"The Mountain Flower"
The pilot phase of the project, (2001-2002), was undertaken in cooperation with Radio Thailand Chiang Mai, which already broadcasts in seven minority languages (Akha, Hmong, Karen, Lahu, Lisu, Shan, Yao), and has a large audience extending into Southern China and Lao PDR.
The first product, a Shan 'soap opera’ entitled "The Mountain Flower" produced with the collaboration of Shan women’s groups, explores the dangers of trafficking in a compelling way to appeal young people.
The success was immediate, and Radio Thailand Chiang Mai programmed a second broadcast in 2003 to fulfill audience requests.
