Juree Vichit-Vadakan

Advisor, National Institute of Development Administration, Thailand

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan teaches at the School of Public Administration, National Institute of Development Administration where she had served as Dean, Vice President and President. Currently she serves as the Secretary-General of Transparency International (Thailand Chapter). She has worked extensively (and is a strong advocate) in the following areas: good governance and anti-corruption, civil society as a development partner, gender equality and women’s rights.

She founded the Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society which advocates for balanced, equitable and sustainable development as well as for fostering civil society and giving in society for social purpose.

In 2003 Dr. Juree was appointed as the Chair of the Organizing Committee for Women Leaders Network Conference hosted by the Thai Government in conjunction with the APEC meeting. She also served as the Chair of APEC’s Gender Focal Point Network for 2003. In addition, she was a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women from 2004-2007.

Dr. Juree is responsible for numerous research and consultancy projects both for the government and international agencies. She also serves on several government, national and international civil society boards.

Dr. Juree earned her BA, MA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California Berkeley. The numerous awards that she had received over the years include the Haas International Award from University of California Berkeley 2006 and an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Law from Indiana University 2007.
