National EFA coordinators, Education officials, and EFA partners met in Seoul, Republic of Korea to discuss on EFA progress with consideration of the target year of 2015.
The 12th Regional Meeting of National EFA Coordinators aimed at facilitating information exchange among countries on EFA progress, challenges and good practices. The meeting served as a forum to discuss with countries and EFA partners on how to accelerate progress towards 2015 and the kind of support needed for this. It was also a venue for countries to learn from the experience of the host country, the Republic of Korea, in relation to the contribution of education to national development.
Discussions focused on (1) Using data and evidence for improved policy and learning (2) making education more relevant and responsive to the needs of national advancement through skills development; (3) governance and the roles of State and non-state providers in financing EFA; and (4) improving data collection, monitoring, evaluation and assessment, among others.
Drafts of the regional End-of-Decade Notes on EFA Progress by EFA goal were presented for comments and validation by countries.
The 12th Regional Meeting of National EFA Coordinators is the annual meeting of National EFA Coordinators in Asia and the Pacific. This meeting was organized by the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education in collaboration with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and UNICEF.
