Fellow, Participation, Power and Social Change Team, University of Sussex
Dr. Peter Taylor is a research fellow, Head of Graduate Programmes, and incoming Team Leader of the Participation, Power and Social Change Team at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Brighton, UK. He has a PhD in agricultural education and is a qualified teacher. Dr. Taylor has worked for many years on issues relating to education for agricultural and rural development, as well as participatory approaches and processes in educational arenas. He has authored publications and undertaken research and advisory work on the themes of participatory curriculum development in agricultural and forestry education; contextualising curricula and teaching methodologies in basic education; educational access for people in rural areas; and training of trainers and teachers on participatory approaches and methodologies. He directs the MA in Participation, Power and Social Change and the DPhil programme at the IDS. He is also Guest Editor of the 2008 Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI) publication on Higher Education in the World. He has lived and worked extensively in Europe, Africa and Central, South and Southeast Asia.
