CONCLUDING SESSION:
Stimulating Development through Cultural Industries
25 February 2005, 09:00 - 17:00
The concluding session aimed to produce a draft of the Plan of Action for the support and development of the cultural industries sector in the Asia-Pacific region. After the plenum meeting to discuss the day’s objectives, the participants divided into five drafting groups.
During the afternoon break a drafting committee compiled the reports, and at the afternoon session this committee presented the “Jodhpur Initiatives for Promoting Cultural Industries in the Asia-Pacifi c Region”, which, as the key output of the Symposium, has the aim of assisting in enabling the cultural industries sector to reach its potential as a key driver for socio-economic development in the region. The initiatives were endorsed by the symposium participants, and agreement was reached in the form of "The Jodhpur Consensus", a document describing the shared vision and principles of the participants of the symposium, and which makes a "Call to Action" urging support and cooperation in the adoption of the Jodhpur Initiatives and in strengthening the cultural industries sector.
