Article 1 | |
1.1 | The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2000 Awards are intended as recognition for the best efforts of individuals and/or organisations or companies in their achievement and contribution in the conservation and/or restoration of a building or a series of buildings in the private sector which is/are more than 50 years old. Houses, commercial, cultural, religious or industrial and institutional buildings are all eligible for consideration. |

Article 2 – Value and Frequency | |
2.1 | The Award, which is established for an indeterminate period, shall awarded on an annual basis. |
2.2 | The Awards shall consist of |
2.3 | The quantum and form of award shall be varied from time to time at the discretion of UNESCO. |
Article 3 – Eligibility
3.1 | Entries for buildings may be submitted by the registered land and building owner, registered lessee, or conservation consultant, architect or designer, any of whom would have had to be involved in the conservation / restoration process, preferably through the whole course of work. |
3.2 | The citation on the award will be made out in the name of the entry. |
Article 4 – Selection of Award Recipients
4.1 | The award recipients shall be selected on the proposal of an internal panel. |
Article 5 – The Selection Panel
5.1 | The Panel shall be composed of |
5.2 | The UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific shall appoint the Panel for the full period of the Awards process. |

Article 6 – Criteria for the Awards
6.1 | The recipients have conclusively demonstrated excellence in |
Article 7 - Conditions of Entry
7.1 | The conserved or restored building or buildings must be over 50 years old and must be privately owned. The works must have been completed before the date of announcement of the awards and within the last five years (i.e. the project must have been completed some time after May 1994). |
7.2 | Each entry must be submitted to UNESCO before 30th April 2000. |
7.3 | Each entry must be submitted on the official entry form together with the following material: Drawings |
7.4 | Submission of an entry will be taken to imply the granting of permission to publish all material and particulars of the successful schemes, including the jury report, without charge to UNESCO. |
7.5 | The wording of certificates and reports will be based strictly on the details given in the entry form. |
7.6 | All submitting persons or firms will be responsible for delivery and collection of their respective entries. UNESCO will take reasonable precautions to ensure that the entries are not damaged whilst in our care. |
7.7 | Anyone may submit one or more entries. |
7.8 | The written consent of the building or property owner or body commissioning the study must be obtained prior to entry. |
Article 8 – Announcement and Presentation
8.1 | The announcement for the winners of the Awards will be made in September 2000. |
8.2 | The entrant will be notified in strict confidence if their project is selected for an Award. UNESCO reserves the right to disqualify any entry which is subject to unauthorised prior disclosure. |
8.3 | Certificates and plaques will be presented to, and will record, the names of the entrant/architect/designer, building owner and the contractor of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2000 Award winning projects. When appropriate they will also list those consultants who were key to the realisation of the buildings.
