UNESCO Bangkok to host the first Thailand Typo3 User Group meeting

Typo3, an open source web content management system (CMS), has a growing pool of users in Thailand. The UNESCO Bangkok website is created in Typo3 and is perhaps the largest Typo3 website in Thailand. UNESCO Bangkok is also assisting others to learn to utilize this free communication tool. Other organizations using Typo3 include several schools in the Phuket area and a church organization.


As part of efforts to support other users of this open source CMS, UNESCO Bangkok will host this first Thailand Typo3 User Group meeting, in Bangkok from 11 to 13 March. UNESCO will provide a space where Typo3 practitioners can come together and learn from each other.


The meeting is limited to 35 participants on a first come first served basis. Participants should bring their own laptop computer with them, preferably wireless enabled.


To register, send your name and that of your institution, address, phone and fax numbers to Clive Wing, Head, Information and Knowledge Management Unit, UNESCO Bangkok (Email: c.wing[at]unescobkk.org). If you have one, include a brief description of your website and its URL. If you require halal or vegetarian lunch, please inform UNESCO. UNESCO can also assist participants in booking accommodation (note: UNESCO will not cover expenses incurred in attending the meeting).

1Cornelius Herzog is a student from Germany. He runs his own company and has more than two years experience using Typo3. He is also the publisher of the portable open source webserver system WOS.

2Andreas Becker has lived in Thailand since 2004. He has worked with Typo3 since 2002 integrating it into the websites of NGOs, Schools and Churches. He is leading the Project "ABC-TYPO3 for Schools". His Partnerschool Project <www.partnerschools.com> connects poor Thai schools with schools around the world using Typo3 as a communication and eLearning Platform.
