ICT IN EDUCATION

Knowledge Communities project

The aim of the Knowledge Communities project is to launch and maintain an online ICT-in-Education community; an interactive forum where educators, teachers, administrators and policy makers can share their opinions and discuss topics relating to the integration of ICT into teaching and learning.

This open and rapid communication mechanism has the potential to enable participants to learn rapidly from each other in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Members of the online community have the opportunity to share their knowledge about ICT use in education, to discuss recent developments, and to announce events and conferences. They are also able to review and exchange teaching materials, such as lesson plans, training guidelines, and toolkits.

Participants also benefit from the possibilities of expanding their networks, meeting interesting people and building partnerships through the forum.

The online community targets policy makers, curriculum developers and educators, however everybody interested in the field of ICT in Education is welcome to join.

This project is part of the “ICT in Education” programme at UNESCO Bangkok which seeks to ensure that policy makers, educators and other decision makers are in a position to make informed choices when it comes to utilizing ICT in education. The programme, supported by Japanese Funds-in-Trust and project partners, was initiated in recognition of the fact that unless implemented judiciously, investing in ICT can be a waste of scarce resources. The ICT in Education programme therefore aims to empower learners, teachers, educators, managers and leaders to use ICT effectively in education.
