Revision of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED)

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) invites all UNESCO Member States and stakeholders in education statistics to participate inthe global consultation on proposed revisions to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED).

In June 2010, the UIS will send the proposed ISCED revision to national statistical offices, education ministries and policy makers in UNESC Member States, as well as agencies working int he field of statistical classifications.

The global consultation aims to generate a wide range of national, regional and international views from those who use and produce education data. The deadline to submit feedback is 30 September 2010. Following this, the ISCED Technical Advisory Panel will review and incorporate these inputs into the final recommendation for the revised classification, to be submitted for approval at the 36th UNESCO General Conference in March 2011.
