A National Workshop on Building a Learning Society in Viet Nam: From Vision to Action (17-18 December 2013, Ha Noi, Viet Nam)

18.12.2013

This is an important milestone to support Viet Nam in its efforts to build an inclusive, resilient and sustainable learning society. Over the last two years, UNESCO Viet Nam has worked with the Secretariat of the National Steering Committee on Building a Learning Society (NSC-BLS), the National Council on Education and Human Resource Development (NCE-HRD), national and international experts, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and the One UN in Viet Nam to support development of the National Framework on Building a Learning Society 2012 - 2020.

The expected results of this first workshop for discussion at the national level are to, through a participatory visioning exercise, develop:

  1. An initial desired profile of the Vietnamese learning citizen;
  2. An initial desired profile of the Vietnamese learning society;
  3. A draft action plan to implement the National Framework on Building a Learning Society 2012-2020 towards the desired vision.

The workshop will attract 120 participants, including high-level officials, members of the NSC-BLS and of the NCE-HRD, members of the National Committee on Radical and Comprehensive Renovation of Education and Training and the Committee on Curriculum and Textbooks for post-2015, the Taskforce on BLS, as well as participants from relevant organizations and international agencies. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants and experts to share and discuss international and regional concepts, policies and practices as well as national actions to enhance the desired profiles and implement the National Framework on Building a Learning Society 2012-2020.
