Indian delegates to learn about Thailand’s good practice in inclusive education

30.01.2012

About 20 delegates from India will visit Thailand to learn about good practice in providing inclusive learning environments from 30 January to 3 February 2012.

The senior members from the Department of School Education and Literacy, Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development at both national and state levels wish to gather information in the areas related to teacher cadre management, decentralised school management and inclusive practices in Thailand as part of international study visits. The group went to Europe last November and will be visiting Thailand in late January and early February, followed by Australia.

The group will visit governmental education offices, institutions, university and laboratory schools and will have a wrap-up session at UNESCO Bangkok for a summary of lessons learned during the study visit and discussion on promising practices.

UNESCO Bangkok has been assisting the delegate group to coordinate the study visit.

The study visit is part of Save the Children India’s project funded by the European Commission to research, document and share international best practices in education leading to innovation in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the Government of India’s flagship programme on education.

Its overall objective is to support the Government of India in achieving the quality targets of the SSA through an exchange of international best practices through capacity building of national and state level institutions and education departments in India, and local education structures within one district in each of five states of India; international research on identification of best practices in the EU and elsewhere; and international study visits.
