04.12.2013

The Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions ensures that artists, cultural professionals, practitioners and all citizens worldwide can create, produce, disseminate and enjoy a broad range of cultural goods, services and activities, including their own. Thailand has a well-developed network of cultural and creative industries, with expertise ranging from crafts and design to multimedia animation. It has also put a strong emphasis on the importance of creativity in its economy.

The Ministry of Culture of Thailand, in collaboration with UNESCO, will hold a National Consultation on the 2005 Convention on 4 December 2013. It will bring together representatives from relevant Ministries and members of the private sector to exchange on how the Convention could provide directions to strengthen the cultural and creative sector in Thailand. Experts from Indonesia and Vietnam will also share their experience on the ratification and implementation of the Convention in their respective countries.
