Together We Stand: UNESCO Initiatives in Asia-Pacific on the International Day for Tolerance (16 November)
Many initiatives undertaken by UNESCO share the core desires to foster tolerance and to promote the principle of “learning to live together”. Here is a small sampling of some of these initiatives.

You will be dearly missed Khun Etienne! Interview with our Deputy-Director

UNESCO Bangkok’s Deputy-Director, Mr Etienne Clément, will move to Samoa to head UNESCO’s Office in Apia from 3 December 2013. We asked Etienne to reflect on his years in the Bangkok Office on both a professional and personal level as well as speak about his vision in the Pacific.

UNESCO-MHURD Joint Forum on the Occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention “World Heritage and Sustainable Development: Realising the Role and Potential of Local Communities” – Forum Proceedings   The Proceedings include presentations, principles and recommendations on how to bring stakeholders together for responsible and integrated management of World Heritage, and how sustainable development can have ‘win-win’ outcomes for local communities and World Heritage properties. 

 

UNESCO-Monaco Cooperation “Capacity-Building for the Fight Against the Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Objects in Mongolia”  Policy Recommendations 2003-2011  These recommendations are addressed to Mongolian authorities and all institutions sharing a common responsibility in the fight against the illicit traffic of cultural objects.

 

UNESCO-Monaco Cooperation “Capacity-Building for the Fight Against the Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Objects in Mongolia”  Achievement Report 2009-2011 (Phase I)  The Achievement Report provides a comprehensive overview of activities carried out to protect Mongolian cultural objects against their illicit trafficking, including the six training workshops organized under the first phase of the project.

 

Social Inclusion of Internal Migrants in India
The document provides an overview of existing innovative practices that increase the inclusion of internal migrants in society and acts as a living docu­ment that would inspire and assist professionals and governments officials in their attempts to facilitate the social inclusion of migrants in India.

 

The Sacred Garden of Lumbini. Perceptions of Buddha’s Birthplace  The book provides comprehensive analyses of the variety of perceptions on Buddha’s birthplace.
