men, women & children are living with HIV/AIDS today.  Many are in Asia. 1st December is World AIDS Day. Know the facts. Keep yourself and those you love, out of harm's way.

For the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Bureau for Education, HIV/AIDS cuts across many of our programmes and concerns.  Trafficking of people from one country to another spreads the infection and deprives the vulnerable and unreached of  the knowledge they need to protect themselves.

Young people are our future yet in many countries they remain ignorant of the simple but important messages of HIV transmission and the changes that will happen to them as they move from childhood to adolescence. School health curricula and teaching materials make the transition an informed one.

Without teachers and school directors who understand the importance of AIDS education in their schools and colleges, the war against HIV/AIDS will be lost.  Informed educators mean informed children.
