Sweets' Sounds at International Jazz Day Bash

Of all the International Days throughout the year, it’s undoubtedly the one with the best soundtrack. International Jazz Day celebrates a form of music unique in its ability to break down barriers between people and unite them in a shared love for a type of music that embraces both the inspiration of the moment as well as a deep respect for the traditions of the past.

Sweets Records in Bangkok’s Soi Thong Lor was filled to capacity – and then some – for a raucous celebration of one of the world’s most popular genres of music. Bands that would otherwise be gigging at some of the city’s top live jazz venues treated the energetic crowd at Sweets to an intimate and unforgettable night of standout performances. LAB 56, the Darin Pantoomkomol Quartet and B.O.A.E.H.E were the featured performers, with a special guitar solo from none other than UNESCO Bangkok’s very own Director, Dr Gwang-Jo Kim! A sincere thank you to all of the performers, as well as Sweets Records for this unforgettable evening and, of course, to the terrific crowd whose enthusiasm for the music was proof if any was needed of jazz’s ability to unite and delight.
