Regional Workshop for Reviving Buddhist Arts

UNESCO launches ICT-in-Education online community
BANGKOK, 1 August 2007 - In July 2007, as part of the new “Knowledge Communities” project, UNESCO Bangkok launched an online ICT-in-Education community: an interactive forum which welcomes educators, teachers, administrators and policy makers and others to share their ideas and opinions on topics relating to the use of ICT in education. Gender inequality in Basic Education

Recognition of ‘excellence' in handicrafts in Southeast Asia              
BANGKOK, April 2007 - Applications are now available for the 2007 Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts in Southeast Asia.  Entering its seventh year, the SEAL continues to recognize high quality handicrafts products. "Each craft is reviewed according to excellence, authenticity, innovation, eco-friendliness, and marketability", says Mr. Richard Engelhardt, Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific, UNESCO Bangkok. Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts in Southeast Asia launched
BANGKOK, April 2007 - Established to encourage craft-workers to use traditional skills and materials, the Seal of Excellence programme (the ‘SEAL') aims to ensure the continuation of traditional knowledge and skills and the preservation of cultural diversity in the region. Record set for world's longest condom chain
BANGKOK, March 2007 - Guinness World RecordsTM have confirmed that Thailand has officially set the world record for the longest chain of condoms: 2,715 metres. On World AIDS Day 2006, Thailand captured international attention with an attempt to create the world's longest chain of condoms. A total of 1,436 participants tied together a total of 24,516 condoms, measured at 2,715 metres, setting a new Guinness World RecordTM. (PDF, 63KB)
