CALL FOR PAPER: International Conference on Global Ethics for Peace and Security “Searching for a New Paradigm of Living Together: Africa-Asia-Pacific”, 12-14 September 2013

12-14 September 2013, at Hilton Nairobi Hotel, Kenya

Ethical behavior is of the essence when we talk about peace and human security. To invest our efforts in enhancing ethics is to shine a light on our capacities as humans to sustain peace within and between countries and people.  Through this we believe that the many roads of peace shall be seen and followed.

This year, the Regional Unit for Social and Human Sciences in Asia and the Pacific (RUSHSAP) UNESCO Bangkok invites you to bring your powerful imaginative skills and critical thinking to the International Conference on Human Ethics for Peace and Security: Searching for a New Paradigm of Living Together to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences, Yunnan Normal University, People’s Republic of China; and Ruamrudee International School (RIS), Thailand.       

Paper presentations are welcomed for the following sub-themes:

- Fundamental Human Ethics: Civic Engagement
- Youth and Social Inclusion
- How is Ethics Applied in Sustainable, Social and Community Development?
- The Impacts of Ethics on the Way People Think, Live, and Practice via Theories

Both paper presentation and participation are welcomed from academics, scholars, policy makers, teachers, students, and enthusiasts in various disciplines, and from around the world.

Call for Paper

The organizers invite paper on the Conference issues described above.

Submission Dates
Deadline for Submission of Abstracts:                       15 August 2013
Deadline for Submission of Full Paper:                      31 August 2013

The Abstract should not be more than 300 words in English with 3-5 keywords identified.  It should also carry the full name(s) and contact details of the author(s), as outlined in detail below.

The Full Paper should be between 5,000 to 7,000 words.  Paper receive before the deadline  will be included in the Indexed Conference Proceedings.  The best paper will be published in a publication and posted on the UNESCO website.

Content of the Abstract
1.  The body of the abstract is limited to 300 words
2.  Body of the abstract: purpose of the study, methods used, summary of the results and conclusion reached.
3.  Author list is limited to 10.
4.  References and credits MUST NOT be included in the abstract.
5.  Simple tables may be made in the submission form –PLEASE DO NOT PASTE TABLES IN THE ABSTRACT BODY.
6.  Formulas should be avoided.
7.  Use standard abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears.
8.  Please indicate the subject category your abstract most closely represents:

Accommodation: Hilton Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.  (Special rate:  Single room US$ 175; Double room US$ 215 per night including breakfast)

Airport Transfers (The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA): Hilton Nairobi provides an airport shuttle service on a fixed schedule convenient to most major flights at a cost of US$ 25 per person one-way.  To facilitate this, we will require full flight details at least two weeks prior to arrival.   Upon arrival, the hotel will reconfirm departure dates and shuttle service requirements.

General Information
1.  The abstract must be written in English.
2.  Deadline: abstracts MUST BE RECEIVED no later than 15 August 2013
3.  Online abstracts submissions are required.
4.  Participants are responsible for their own travel costs and accommodation.
5.  All accepted abstracts will be published and distributed electronically in the Conference Materials.
