This conference will facilitate ASEAN representatives, as well as “ASEAN plus” or international partners outside the region, in research, knowledge exchange and forward thinking.

Around 20 full papers will be presented based on approved abstracts from open call and special invitation.  A preliminary list of presenters and paper titles is available now (download here) and a draft program will be posted soon.  Papers will variously review social sciences institutions, programs, curricula and capacities in each Southeast Asian country, as well as thematic, theoretical or regional studies on social sciences, sustainability and related policy issues in ASEAN.  Selected papers from presentations will be adapted and submitted for peer-review as chapters in a published academic book or “Special Issue” of UNESCO’s International Social Science Journal with analyses of roles that current social and sustainability sciences play in government research, policy making and program design.

Please consult the UNESCO Bangkok (RUSHSAP) website ( for updates.  You may also email with any questions.  But most relevant information will be online soon.  So please be patient as we are still developing the program and sorting out other logistical matters.
