World Philosophy Day

Celebration of World Philosophy Day is encouraged in every country.

In 2010, the celebration in Bangkok  will be held from 9:00-12:00 in the Fifth Floor Conference Room of UNESCO Bangkok, on Thursday the 18th November. We encourage many other celebrations throughout every country.

In 2009, a similar celebration was held in UNESCO Bangkok. A variety of other events have been held, for example...

• RUSHSAP collaborated with Chulalongkorn University for philosophy day activities 20 November, 2003. (with the National Commission for UNESCO of Thailand)

• RUSHSAP collaborated with Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Silapakorn University to organize discussions among university students and lecturers based on films and presentations by invited speakers from Philosophy Departments in universities in Thailand.  These sessions took place from 15-26 November 2004.

• RUSHSAP collaborated with the National Commission for UNESCO of Thailand to organize an essay contest for students in Thailand on the topic of philosophy and its importance in the world today.  Ten prizes were awarded to the best ten entries, and winners read their essays on 18 November 2004.

• RUSHSAP collaborated with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO to organize public awareness activities on the importance of the UNESCO Philosophy Day on 18 November 2004.

• RUSHSAP collaborated with Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand, to organize a philosophy week in November 2005. This is in the troubled Southern provinces of Thailand and used philosophy as a bridge between people.
