2001 UNESCO Heritage Conservation Award Deadline 31 March
Bangkok, 16 January 2001 – The deadline for entries for the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2001 Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation is 31 March 2001. The awards programme, in its second year, recognizes excellence in the conservation and preservation of the built heritage of the Asia-Pacific region.

Panel of international conservation experts will select winners of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2001 Awards
Bangkok, 1 July 2001 – The UNESCO office in Bangkok has formed a panel of international conservation experts to review and select eight winning projects out of the thirty-nine submitted to the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation. The awards programme, in its second year, recognizes the best efforts of private sector individuals and organizations in
preserving the built heritage of the Asia-Pacific region. An Award of Excellence will be given to the project selected as most excellent achievement in the restoration of an historic structure, followed by two Awards of Distinction and five Awards of Merit. Winning projects will be announced in September 2001.

The National Archives Building in Jakarta wins the Award of Excellence of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2001 Awards
Bangkok, 17 September 2001 — The UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific announced today that the National Archives Building in Jakarta, Indonesia, has been recognized with the Award of Excellence in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation competition. The two Awards of Distinction went to the Bushell’s Tea Warehouse, Sydney, Australia and the Krishan Temple, Punjab, India, followed by five Awards of Merit and five Honourable Mentions.
