  • Turkmenistan: How to Build Open Information Societies
    Since 2001, the UNDP Country Office in Turkmenistan has been implementing the Information Sharing for Sustainable Human Development project, or InfoTuk. The project plays a key role in strengthening local and national capacities in the use of information and communication technologies, particularly the Internet, as a means of increasing information sharing and dissemination in Turkmenistan.

  • Encyclopedia of the Nations: Turkmenistan and Education
    Upon completion of the eighth grade, students are tested and then directed into technical, continuing, or discontinuing courses of study. The government reports 1,764 schools with enrollment of 850,000. In 1,400 of the schools, instruction is in the Turkmen language; in the remaining 364, Uzbek, Russian, Kazakh, and Karakalpak languages are used.

  • IATP Trainees Lead Conference on ICT in Education in Turkmenistan
    On March 26, 2009, eight IATP-trained educators led a conference in Ashgabat on incorporating ICT into the teaching of music history. The Turkmenistan National Conservatory organized the March conference, which 30 faculty and students attended.
