Writing Workshop for a Regional Guideline and Competency-Based Standards for Teachers Technology-Pedagogy Integration: 28-31 March 2004

Workshop for Writing Regional Guidelines and Standards for Teacher ICT Competency was organised during 28-31 March 2004 at Hua Hin, Thailand to build on the output of the earlier meetings and the follow-up that had been done.

Standards were developed for Teacher ICT Competency, to be used for recognition and certification of levels of teachers’/facilitators’ competency in technology-pedagogy integration at different stages. Based on the outline developed in the earlier meeting and the developments that followed, regional guidelines for teachers and other facilitators in integrating ICT in education were further improved.

Background

As a follow up to the Beijing seminar on the development of Guideline/Standard on teacher integration of  ICT in teaching, this Writing Workshop for a Regional Guideline and Competency-Based Standard for Teacher ICT Competency is now being organized.

 

Workshop objectives

  • To develop a regional guideline for teachers and other facilitators in integrating ICT in education, adaptable to national/local contexts of Asia-Pacific countries; and
  • To draft competency-based standards which can be used for recognition and certification of levels of teachers/facilitators’ competency in technology-pedagogy integration at different stages. 

Participation

Since the nature and scope of the project necessitates multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary team work, experts are being chosen from different countries/organizations, with respective expertise and experiences in the following areas:

  • ICT in education projects,
  • Technology-infused trainers programmes,
  • Educational technology standards,
  • Production of multi-media teacher training materials, and
  • ICT provision for educational purposes.
