Activities under Capacity Building in Non-Formal Education programme
APPEAL is implementing the following activities to support the member states to strengthen the mechanisms for resource development and capacity building in NFE from local to national levels.
GOAL 1 – Systematic Resource Development and Capacity Building in NFE
To develop comprehensive and concrete NFE master plans and national network to establish systematic NFE mechanisms for material and technical resource development and capacity building.
RESULTS – EXPECTED
The overall needs and existing materials, technical and financial resources in NFE will be analyzed.
Requirement for more systematically implementing NFE activities and further strengthening NFE components of EFA national plans will be identified.
National NFE master plans for resource development will be formulated to strengthen the national EFA plans and implementation.
NFE resource development mechanisms and networks will be established upon existing resources such as NFE centres in the countries.
Capacity of NFE personnel at national, sub-national and community levels in effectively implementing the master plan will be strengthened.
National NFE master plans will be shared through EFA and APPEAL mechanisms.
STRATEGIES
- Conduct country studies to identify needs and existing resources of NFE forming national & grassroots technical working group.
- Organize national workshop to formulate NFE resource development master plan based on the study findings.
- Organize study visit cum inter-country meeting to share and revise country master plans.
- Establish national resource development mechanisms and a network based on the master plans.
GOAL 2 – Resource Pack on Literacy and Continuing Education
To assist NFE personnel to have easier access to available regional resource materials for literacy and continuing education and improve the designing and implementation of capacity building and resource development in NFE.
RESULTS – EXPECTED
- A resource pack on literacy and continuing education will be developed compiling major resource materials.
- A framewodk will be provided for countries to undertake the task of developing their own national resource pack on literacy and continuing education.
STRATEGIES
- Compile and analyze existing resource materials in UNESCO and other organizations.
- Package the resource materials in print holders, CDs and for website.
- Disseminate the resource pack through APPEAL's partners such as ARTC, government and NGOs as well as international and donor agencies.
