Meeting of Asia-Pacific ICH Category II Centres in Bangkok sees ways towards collaboration
01.05.2012Bangkok, Thailand - The first meeting of directors of the Category II Centres under the Auspices of UNESCO for the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in the Asia-Pacific Region, taken place on 26-27 April 2012, concluded with commitments for future collaborations between the four regional ICH Centres.
The discussions during the meeting reflected the need for more networking among the four Centres in China, Iran, Japan and Republic of Korea, in order to enhance the goal of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in the Asia Pacific region. The focus was on increased collaboration among ICH Centres, including linking the Centres’ websites, planning some joint projects and arrangements for future and regular sessions of the meeting.
The representatives of the Centres who attended the meeting were:
Mr Yang Zhi (Director) and Ms Xu Mingji (Programme Manager) from the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the Auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP), Beijing, China
Mr Yadollah Parmoun (Director) from the Regional Research Centre for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia (Tehran ICH Centre), Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran
Ms Misako Ohnuki (Deputy Director) from the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), Sakai City, Osaka, Japan
Mr Samuel Lee (Director), Mr Seong-Yong Park (Assistant Director) and Ms Saymin Lee (Assistant Programme Officer) from the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP), Seoul, Republic of Korea
